Guess what?!

I decided to start a mini book club kind of thing on my blog where I can review books because I absolutely LOVE to read. After reading those reviews you can also comment if you’ve read them before, or you could just go read it if you want to.

Anyways, let’s go!

WARNING: There may be a few spoilers (I’ll try not to include any, but just I can’t guarantee).

Sooooo this book is called ‘Heartless’ by Marissa Meyer and this is the blurb:

Long before Alice fell down the rabbit hole…

And before the roses were painted red…

The Queen of Hearts was just a girl, in love for the first time.

From Marissa Meyer, The New York Times bestselling author of The Lunar Chronicles, comes a vision of Wonderland like none you’ve seen before, telling the untold story of the girl who would become the notorious Queen of Hearts.

The book is basically about a little girl named Catherine who was the daughter of the Marchion and Marchioness of Hearts. Her dream is to own the best bakery in all of Hearts along with her maid, Mary Ann.

But her parents are totally against the idea of a bakery and instead want her to marry a man and allow him to do the work because “it’s not respectable”. Soon she realizes that the King is going to ask for her hand in marriage and she doesn’t want to say yes, however, her parents do.

Cath instead falls in love with a boy with a secret that no one in the kingdom knows, and he and Cath try to run away from Hearts but something terrible happens, causing her to become the cruel and heartless person known as the Queen of Hearts.

Do tell me if you decide to buy or read this book because it is truly interesting, the only flaw is that there is a lot of extra writing in some parts of the story. Other than that, I think this book is great and I definitely recommend it.

My Rating: 8.5/10

Have you ever heard of or read this book before? If so, what do you think of it?
