About Diwali ⭐️🎆

hello everybodyyyy

Happy Diwali!! ✨(to anyone who celebrates, or even if you don’t)

I KNOW, I haven’t posted in a month 😦

But I do have an excuse, if you count not having any post ideas and not wanting to write a bad post for the sake of it an excuse. I mean, seems like a reasonable reason. lol.

SOoo I decided to write a post about Diwali because it’s a part of my culture and also I have no clue if people from other countries know about it. Like in my school I think everyone kinda knows like the teeniest bit about it since it’s an international school and also you always hearing people bursting fireworks on Diwali so you’d probably know why. *I literally hear the fireworks every 30 seconds as I’m writing this post*.

If you already heard of it before please do comment because I genuinely want to know if I’m just being overdramatic 😂

Anywaysss.

Diwali is probably the biggest celebration/festival in my religion and country (Hindu and I’m from India if you didn’t know lol), it happens every year somewhere in October or November. It’s also referred to as the festival of lights because people burst fireworks and light candles/oil lamps called diyas, I would explain the story behind it but that would take a while so I’ll just say it’s basically to signify how light always wins over darkness and good wins over evil.

During this time we wear new clothes and tidy our houses and decorate them with diyas and fairy lights and this kind of powder art called rangoli. I usually make the rangoli every year with my mom but this year I did it all by myself ahhhh! It’s not the best but I’m honestly quite proud of myself; it’s harder than it looks ☺️

my rangoli hehe ☺️

And yeah to celebrate we burst fireworks with friends and family, eat sweets, give presents and obviously pray. Usually every year we would celebrate with my cousins because I have a lot of cousins so it gets very fun and chaotic but this year we couldn’t do that because of corona 😔 It is what it is.

Sooo I hope you guys learnt something and enjoyed this post even though it’s pretty short and more informational than usual 😄

Talk to me in the comments about what’s happening in your life at the moment, I love to chat! 💖

Love, Hreem xx
