Dear Future Me…

hey guyss!

*a literal 5 minute pause where I try to think of what to write because what on Earth are you meant to write in an introduction?? my mind has gone BLANK*

how are you doing?? well, hopefully ☺️

recently me, my cousins (hi Anushka and Jaanvi if you’re reading) and my aunt were talking about how we think we’re going to be in the future and what we’re going to do. So I was like hahah we should write this down somewhere and then look at it in 5 years and see what’s changed. And THEN I remembered a lovely website called futureme.org where you write yourself an email and then choose a date for you to receive that email. if that makes any sense.

Basically, first you write a letter to yourself talking about anything you want. Then you pick when you want to receive this email (it could be a certain amount of years or even a specific date) and send the email. The email will then be sent to you on the date you chose and you have no way of reading it before the specified date. That’s pretty great because I know I’d get a little curious and impatient and try to read a bit before I’m supposed to actually get the email oops.

so yeah we ended making predictions about how we thought we’d be in five years and whether we’re still doing certain things we do now (e.g. I wrote that I’d better be still blogging or else I’m throwing hands 😤) and it was extremely fun.

I’ve actually written two other emails on that website. One I wrote I think 2-3 years ago that I’m going to get on my 18th birthday (I don’t even remember a single thing that I wrote in that lol I’m so curious) and another one me and my friends Simmy and Maia wrote together in school once that we’re supposed to get when we graduate school (yikes but also yay).

To the person reading this, I want you to go to that website now and write yourself a letter.

It can be as long or short as you want and you can receive in in 10 years or a week (a week would be pretty pointless but you do you bestie). Just do it because it’s honestly so much fun and you can write about anything in the world because you’re the only one who’s going to see it. Plus imagine how fun it would be when you wake up 5 years later to see an email from yourself. It sounds pretty great doesn’t it? yeah it does.

This website could also be an amazing way to manifest what you want because you can basically script. (if you don’t get what any of that means, here’s a short video you can watch). I hope I explain this well 😫:

So you can choose a date in 1 year and think of all the things you want to have by then. e.g. more friends, better grades, have travelled somewhere etc.
Then, pretend to be you in one year and write a letter to your friend or past self or really anywhere you want and talk about all of these things like you already have them.
For example you could be like:

Dear 15-year-old me,

hey it’s 18 year old Hreem and you won’t believe all the things that have happened! I finally went to a Taylor Swift concert and it was the best experience of my life!!! It was like a dream and I went with five of my new best friends ☺️☺️…

I’m sure you get the idea. I really do want to go to a T Swizzle concert tho.

Just talk about it in so much detail as if you really have everything you want and then just send it and forget about it and it could happen! I suggest you watch more youtube videos on that for a better explanation because obviously I’m not an expert, even though I seem like one 😚😌

aaand that’s all for this post. I hope you liked it and that it inspired you to go write (do it now, do it do it gooo).

Talk to me in the comments about if you have done this before or literally anything at all!

Has anything interesting happened in your life recently? What did you dream about last night? What’s the last movie you watched and did you like it?

Lotsss of love,

Hreem xx

  1. thanks for sharing this website!! it actually seems very cool and I’m going to try it out today evening 😊 ooh the manifestation thing is SUCH a great idea too! I recently found out more about law of attraction so I think this would be a great way for me to let go because I wouldn’t be able to read the letter until the specific date. thanks for sharing this Hreem! ❤️❤️

  2. Ahh, this is such a cool idea – imagine me writing a letter to my future kids when they’re my age!! I would totally freak if Taylor Swift had a concert and I went to it – JUST IMAGINE. I don’t know how I’ll be able to keep up with the suspense (why didn’t past me do this for me) but I’m going to write one right now!! Thanks for sharing!!

PS. The last movie I watched was Ocean’s 8! It’s super cool – have you watched it?

    1. omg I didn’t even think of that, it’d be so cooool!! (definitely gonna do that now thanks for the idea hehe) I know, going to a Taylor Swift concert would be a dream 😭
Random question: if you could get tickets to any one of her tours which would you pick? Haha literally, I’m jealous of future me at this point. Thanks for reading!!

Ahh ocean’s 8 is actually one of my top two favourite movies so YES it’s very cool. I love that it’s basically female-led 😊

      1. I would’ve LOVED her 1989 tour, but if she ever does a folklore world tour it would be so amazing!!!

I know!! I loved Anne Hathaway (but which of her movies don’t I love xD)

      2. ooh yes 1989 was awesome but for me I’m so sad I didn’t get to go to the reputation tour. imagine seeing I Did Something Bad or Don’t Blame Me live 😭 yeahh the folklore tour would definitely be so different from the rest of the tours she’s done since the album is more soft and folk-y.

        ahahh totally agree 😆
