hey bestiesss
I have one week left of school and honestly I don’t know how to feel about that 😫
like this school year barely happened and I’m not very excited about going into the next year but oh well there’s nothing I can do about that lol.
anyways I randomly got a burst of inspiration to research the “happiness chemicals” in our brains and what triggers their release and stuff so I did and now I want to share it with you guys because who doesn’t want to be a happier person??
Okay so for everyone who doesn’t know, there are four happiness hormones/chemicals created by our brain and they are dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin and endorphins. These are basically the four things in your brain that are responsible for you feeling anything good.
Firstly we have dopamine, which is the chemical responsible for that kind of instant rewarding feeling you get when you complete a task. It’s the hormone that drives and creates motivation for a goal, one step at a time. Some things you can do to release dopamine are listen to music (woohoo), exercise, meditate, get enough sleep, do a hobby you enjoy or organise something (your room, cupboard, literally anything).
Next is the very lovely 💞oxytocin💞 which is also known as the love hormone because it’s the feeling behind – take a wild guess here please – love, friendship and trust. It’s the kind of warm and fuzzy feeling you get after cuddling your pet or being with your best friends (awwww). It is released after doing anything “loving” so like hugs, cuddles, giving presents, having honest and emotional conversations…all that fun stuff. Also if you have nobody else, warm showers are close enough.
Thirdly issss serotonin which stabilises your mood and basically your body’s wellbeing both in terms of health and mood. To increase serotonin you can spend more time outdoors, eat dark chocolate or exercise. I couldn’t find a lot of good information about serotonin but I think this covers the basics.
And finally endorphins which reduce pain and make you feel really good as a side effect. Some ways to release endorphins are to exercise (exercise is apparently good for like everything 😐🙄 but yeah maybe it’s a sign), eat dark chocolate, have fun with your friends or listen to/make music (looks like music is pretty good for health hehe, loving it).
That’s all for this posttt!!
I’m sorry if I sound really awkward I just completely forgot how to write blog posts where I have to put actual facts instead of just my very cool random thoughts and opinions. It’s clearly been a while.
Let me know if…you knew any of this before? Or literally just chat with me about anything. Like what are your plans for the summer? How do you feel about the weather where you are right now? What’s your favourite ice cream flavour??
Lots of loveeee,
Hreem xxxx
