It’s brutal out here

hey everyoneee!!

this is a very tiny post because my end of year exams start tomorrow and I’m very stressed 😭😭

I also have to go to school to take them which freaks me out because I haven’t physically been to school like at all, yeah. all my social skills (not that I had many to begin with if I’m being honest) are GONE and I can’t stand the thought of actually having to walk into my classroom for the first time this year knowing everyone else already has like met and stuff but I’m like the random girl there.

Can you tell I’m introverted and insecure?

ALSO GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE WHO HAS THEIR EXAMS!!!!

We’re all gonna celebrate when they’re over (I definitely am, not sure how but in some way I have to)

so yeah I’ll see you guys next week when I finally (🙄) get around to doing the Q&A post that is like a month overdue already.

Oh well.

Love & luck,

Hreeemyyyyy

About Diwali ⭐️🎆

hello everybodyyyy

Happy Diwali!! ✨(to anyone who celebrates, or even if you don’t)

I KNOW, I haven’t posted in a month 😦

But I do have an excuse, if you count not having any post ideas and not wanting to write a bad post for the sake of it an excuse. I mean, seems like a reasonable reason. lol.

SOoo I decided to write a post about Diwali because it’s a part of my culture and also I have no clue if people from other countries know about it. Like in my school I think everyone kinda knows like the teeniest bit about it since it’s an international school and also you always hearing people bursting fireworks on Diwali so you’d probably know why. *I literally hear the fireworks every 30 seconds as I’m writing this post*.

If you already heard of it before please do comment because I genuinely want to know if I’m just being overdramatic 😂

Anywaysss.

Diwali is probably the biggest celebration/festival in my religion and country (Hindu and I’m from India if you didn’t know lol), it happens every year somewhere in October or November. It’s also referred to as the festival of lights because people burst fireworks and light candles/oil lamps called diyas, I would explain the story behind it but that would take a while so I’ll just say it’s basically to signify how light always wins over darkness and good wins over evil.

During this time we wear new clothes and tidy our houses and decorate them with diyas and fairy lights and this kind of powder art called rangoli. I usually make the rangoli every year with my mom but this year I did it all by myself ahhhh! It’s not the best but I’m honestly quite proud of myself; it’s harder than it looks ☺️

my rangoli hehe ☺️

And yeah to celebrate we burst fireworks with friends and family, eat sweets, give presents and obviously pray. Usually every year we would celebrate with my cousins because I have a lot of cousins so it gets very fun and chaotic but this year we couldn’t do that because of corona 😔 It is what it is.

Sooo I hope you guys learnt something and enjoyed this post even though it’s pretty short and more informational than usual 😄

Talk to me in the comments about what’s happening in your life at the moment, I love to chat! 💖

Eggless Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

cookieesss

hey guys!

I hope everything is going okay and that you are, staying home.

I know it’s really boring being at home but it’s better to be bored than get the virus, I’m sure. Plus there are so many people working on the frontline who are doing so much that it’s rude of us to go out and risk everything.

Since you have so much time at home here is a really great, eggless recipe for chocolate cookies that I really love and you probably will too. It’s really not that hard so try it!!

Serves: at least 12 (depending on the size) || Time: 50 mins || Difficulty: Medium

You’ll Need:

  • 1 and 1/8 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/8 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup chocolate chips

How To Make It:

  1. Firstly, make sure to preheat your oven to 180°C and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Mix all of your dry ingredients together in a large bowl and then keep the bowl to the side.
  3. Beat your butter, vanilla extract and sugar in a smaller bowl. Once it is much softer, add in the milk and mix until softened.
  4. Add your wet ingredients to your dry ingredients and mix them together until they form a dough. Then fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. To make sure the dough isn’t very soft, leave it in the fridge for about 20 mins.
  6. Once the dough is cool, make small balls out of the dough and place them on the baking tray, slightly pressed down with enough space between each cookie.
  7. Bake the cookies for around 10-15 minutes but not too long or else they’ll be too crunchy.
  8. Eat them whenever you want! But obviously not as soon as they come out of the oven because that’ll burn.

I hope you try out this recipe because it tastes really great and it’s not too difficult. If you do try it, please let me know how it went ☺️

Love, Hreem xx

Does the Ph of Your Cleanser Affect Your Skin?

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

hey everyone!

I am a person who really loves buying tons of face masks and different skincare products even if they don’t actually have an impact on my skin (oops)

So recently I found out a little about how the Ph of your face wash is actually really important and can have a major impact so I wanted to share the information with you guys!

Basically the Ph of your skin (Potential hydrogen. The acidity or alkalinity of your skin) is somewhere between 4.0-6.5. Your skin has an acid mantle which is acidic so that it can act as a barrier to keep away bacteria, viruses, dirt and other things which can penetrate the skin. The Ph of your skin can be altered by weather, UV light, the products and even the water you use.

Using this products on your skin can disturb it’s Ph, making it too acidic or basic, which causes more breakouts, makes skin more sensitive and creates a good environment for infections. Using these a few times only temporarily changes the skins Ph and it can still recover however using these products more often can cause long-term damage to your skin.

Most soaps and some cleansers have a Ph of about 9-10 and that is really bad for your skin. *that is one reason why you shouldn’t wash your face with shower gel or anything like that.

Sooo how can you be sure that your cleanser has the right Ph? Most cleansers would say ‘balanced Ph’ on the packaging or might have the Ph written sOmEwHeRe on the bottle. For example after I learnt this I did some research about the cleanser I was using at the time and realised that it had a Ph of 7! I immediately threw it out and found another one.

Okay guys that was kind of a long one but I hope this helped you even a little bit 🙂

The Post-Exams Post

*credits to Milla for giving me this title*

Guess what, guys?!

My exams are over! Finitooooo (didn’t I say that in my exam post last year? I’m sure I did)

Anywaaays I’m super free now and I have more free time than I can handle because even the teachers have given up on teaching so we have no homework or anything. It’s actually quite boring tbh.

So now all I do is practice my guitar and learn new songs which is interesting until it gets to the point where I realise that all my favourite songs have super unknown chords like B minor or something like that. Some chords that literally aren’t humanly possible.

On the bright side I also have so much more time to have fun and hangout with my friends. Summer vacation starts in two weeks which is sooo exciting except for the fact that the weather in Dubai is already burning hot and it’s only going to get worse. I can’t wait to do some traveling too because I LOVE to travel!!

Have a great day 🙂

Girl Power Playlist

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY!

I remember writing this same post last year super last minute because I realised I hadn’t written any posts (classic Hreem)

I don’t want to write about the same things I wrote last year which was some of the women that inspire me, and I was TRyInG to think of something kinda original. So I came up with something that includes one of my interests and is just useful to some people (I guess…?!) So I present to you a girl power playlist!

These are a bunch of songs that (I think) are kinda girl power-y. Use this at sleepovers for the crazy (but trying to be quiet) 2 am dance partyyy.

♥️ Girl Power Playlist ♥️

    • BO$$ by Fifth Harmony
    • Run The World (Girls) by Beyoncé
    • Ain’t Your Mama by Jennifer Lopez (I ain’t your mama NoOoOooOOOO)
    • Who Do You Think You Are by the Spice Girls
    • Power by Little Mix
    • That’s My Girl by Fifth Harmony (yes, another one)
    • Who Says by Selena Gomez
    • Girl Power by the Cheetah Girls (hehe)
    • Salute by Little Mix (what can I say, girl groups really spread the message)

sooooo that should keep you occupied for about 25 minutes I think. I know I’ve missed a ton of the best ones but if you make a playlist like this, add them. Or just tell me the ones I forgot down below.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how amazing these girl groups are? I have like *goes back to count* 6/9 of these songs are by groups. Cool.

Make sure to comment some of your fave girl power songs!!

‘To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before’ Review | Book Club

Heyyy everyone!

The last time I did a book review was like, last year. And I really wanted to do another one but I didn’t find any new reads that I felt like sharing with you guys.

So as all of you probably know, near the end of 2018 a movie called ‘To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before’ released on Netflix. It’s based on the book by Jenny Han. Almost everyone went crazy over the movie and I honestly quite liked it but I think it was super overhyped and that set the expectations pretty high for me.

This book is quite related to Valentine’s Day, which is today, sooooo that’s pretty cool!

SPOILER ALERT : There will be spoilers in this review so if you don’t want to know all the details just skip to the last paragraph.

In my opinion the book is much better than the movie but I really like to read anyway so that might just be me. The book is about a shy teenage girl named Lara-Jean who has one older and younger sister and no mom. Everytime she gets over a crush she writes a letter pouring out her feelings and addresses them to each of the five boys.

Suddenly one day the letters are sent to each of the 5 boys and all her feelings are exposed. Even though they were sent to five guys (lol, like the restaurant), two of them were more important; Josh (her older sister’s boyfriend) and Peter (the most popular boy in school).

Then she starts fake dating Peter because he wants to make his ex-girlfriend jealous, and to make Josh jealous. Then a few events happen and they start to realise they actually like eachother for real and find out who sent the letters…

I think this book is very intriguing and has a great plot/storyline. It is very different to any book I’ve ever read. I love that it isn’t just focused on one thing (romance) it also has elements of friendship and family, as her little sister Kitty brings a lot of humour. The only thing I don’t like is that it sometimes has a few plot holes, like, why would you address the letters if you never meant to send them? But overall I definitely reccommend this book.

My Rating: 9.5/10

Have you watched the movie and/or the book? Thoughts?

Clothes Pieces I Want in my Wardrobe

heyyyyy guys!

Btw don’t let the intro fool you,

I’m kinda aargh right now because my school started on Sunday, part of the squad?

But enough of that (I’m sure I’ve said that in every post) let me just talk about what you came here to see; some clothing pieces that I really wish I had. This is I think the first time I’ve ever done a fashion-y post so let’s get to it.

Firstly, I just want a BASIC. DENIM. SKIRT. I can honestly say I’ve only owned one denim skirt to this day. But I always drool over them when I see them around; I’ve got serious issues…

Also, I want one of that kind of open-knit sweater thingies without the pattern on it for fall and winter. I never bought it because it wouldn’t be available in Dubai since the weather is hothotHOT. Every day I cycle to and from school (fit girl right here) and it’s a very dumb decision because when I’m returning home my bike feels like it’s been inside a microwave and the weather makes me feel like I’m in the microwave along with it. Okay, storytime over.

And finalllllyyyyyyyy….. an overalls dress. I’m sorry I have no idea what these are called but they’re like overalls and instead of shorts it’s a skirt; get what I mean? They’re just super cute and the perfect go-to outfit when you’re too lazy to pick one (join the club 🙋🏼).

Just adding this in since it kind of matches with the post: honestly my favourite style inspo is Rachel from ‘Friends’ because her outfits look so well put together and casual at the same time. TBH all the three Friends girls have such cute, individual styles from the 90’s and I’m in looove!

Who/what is your style inspiration?
