Does the Ph of Your Cleanser Affect Your Skin?

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

hey everyone!

I am a person who really loves buying tons of face masks and different skincare products even if they don’t actually have an impact on my skin (oops)

So recently I found out a little about how the Ph of your face wash is actually really important and can have a major impact so I wanted to share the information with you guys!

Basically the Ph of your skin (Potential hydrogen. The acidity or alkalinity of your skin) is somewhere between 4.0-6.5. Your skin has an acid mantle which is acidic so that it can act as a barrier to keep away bacteria, viruses, dirt and other things which can penetrate the skin. The Ph of your skin can be altered by weather, UV light, the products and even the water you use.

Using this products on your skin can disturb it’s Ph, making it too acidic or basic, which causes more breakouts, makes skin more sensitive and creates a good environment for infections. Using these a few times only temporarily changes the skins Ph and it can still recover however using these products more often can cause long-term damage to your skin.

Most soaps and some cleansers have a Ph of about 9-10 and that is really bad for your skin. *that is one reason why you shouldn’t wash your face with shower gel or anything like that.

Sooo how can you be sure that your cleanser has the right Ph? Most cleansers would say ‘balanced Ph’ on the packaging or might have the Ph written sOmEwHeRe on the bottle. For example after I learnt this I did some research about the cleanser I was using at the time and realised that it had a Ph of 7! I immediately threw it out and found another one.

Okay guys that was kind of a long one but I hope this helped you even a little bit 🙂

New Skincare Products I’m Loving

hey everyone!

The weather in Dubai is sooo unpredictable! Like, one second it’s nice and sunny and then the next it’s randomly windy, dusty and a LOT of rain. 5 minutes later it’s normal and sunny again. What?! MAKE UP YOUR MIND. Stay rainy plss, I know other countries are hoping for sun but I want the opposite Oops.

so

Not-so-recently I found a new skincare brand I really love. The products only use natural ingredients so there shouldn’t be any chemicals that affect the skin. I’m quite sure this brand is only available in India but I think if you order it, it can probably be shipped to wherever (woop).

I bought 3 products and they are: The Sugared Rose Petal Lip Balm,  Eladi Teenage Day Cream and Hasayan Facial Tonic Mist Rosewater. I didn’t buy a cleanser because I already have one from The Face Shop.

Starting off with the lip balm, I love this lip balm SO MUCH! It smells like a rose, it’s super light, moisturizing and also the packaging is beautiful. The only thing I wish is that it would be bigger! Whenever I have chapped lips this lipbalm is the perfect remedy, totally reccommend it 🙂

Next is the Eladi Teenage Day Cream. Now, I’m not completely sure what eladi actually is. I mean, I tried to do a little bit of research but I don’t really get it! The cream is made specifically for teens (as you can probably tell) and it has SPF 30. It is designed to regulate sebum production, balance and hydrate it, while protecting it from environmental damage. I can’t exactly tell if this works or not because I need to be using it for quite some time to figure that out, but I do think it’s not very harsh on the skin.

Finally, the Hasayan Facial Tonic Mist Rosewater. I bought a small size in a spray bottle just to test it out and see if I like it. The mist is so refreshing and soothing and also smells quite good. AL the scents are quite flowery because flowers are (usually) the main ingredient. I know that rose water is supposed to be good for your skin, which is why I got this.

Hope you enjoyed this post and are inspired to maybe get something for yourself.

What skincare brands or products do you reccommend?

Lush Haul!

Lush Haul

Soo…

I recently stopped by Lush to just check out some of their new products for the Christmas range and restricted myself to just buying four things; no matter how hard I wanted to buy more.

I bought two from the Christmas range and two of their normal products:

  • ‘Shoot For The Stars’ bath bomb
  • ‘Snow Fairy’ fun soap
  • ‘Sugar Daddy-O’ hair conditioner
  • ‘Juicy’ shampoo

Shoot For The Stars

‘Honey-scented sparkles of Brazilian orange and bergamot waltz with swirling, golden stars, creating a world of cobalt colour. As the calming blanket of shimmering, midnight blue unfolds, Brazilian orange and bergamot oils combine to send your mood rocketing up to the stars.’ I haven’t actually tried this one out yet but the description and the scent are sooooo fabulous.

Snow Fairy

‘This colourful, candyfloss-scented fun is a little bit magical. Handmake your own festive fairy in soft pink and set her at the top of the tap so she can cast a spell over bathtime. Crumble a little under running water for streams of spellbinding, candy-coated bubbles which turn the water into a wonderland of sweetness, or lather up in your hands for a sugary sweet body wash.’ I think that Snow Fairy is not a very popular scent because some people find it too sweet, but I think it’s a really great smell and I haven’t smelled any other Lush product that smells similar.

I Love Juicy

Packed with fresh fruit to deeply cleanse and clarify hair. This is a fruit cocktail for the hair to cleanse and refresh it, softening seaweed to leave your locks super-shiny once they’re extra-clean. Freshly juiced pineapples, kiwi, mango and papaya are full of enzymes that help break down excess sebum (oil) on the scalp, leaving hair looking and feeling fresh and clean.’ This shampoo is really good because it actually does everything it says in the description and leaves your hair smelling really good.

Sugar Daddy-O

‘With richness beyond compare and a fondness for blondes, Sugar Daddy-O is one to watch. Lighter shades will remain classy, not brassy after a few strokes with this pretty purple solid conditioner. It’s full of luscious linseed infusion and argan oil to nourish. A floral bouquet of violet leaf absoluterose and bergamot creates an intoxicating fragrance that will last on hair all day. Work the bar between the hands before applying a small amount into wet hair; a little goes a long way.’ This conditioner is pretty cool because it’s a bar and is super massaging when you rub it into your hair, it’s really good.

What is your favourite Lush winter product?
