Exams Over! And How to Survive Them When They Return

IMG_3608

You heard it, no more exams! woohoo!

Obviously I have them next year, but for now, I’m done, finito! It’s like a huge weight has been lifted off of my shoulders nd

So here are a few tips that really helped me:

Have a Schedule or Timetable

This helped me a lot and is great if you have many subjects that you can’t keep track of and also saves you time so you don’t have to worry about what to study next! I also gave myself little stars so by the end my calendar was covered by a constellation of stars ⭑

Reward Yourself

Whenever I finished a week’s worth of studying I treated myself to a little Pinkberry (yum!) or ice cream or something delicious just so there was something to look forward to.

Get Comfortable

You won’t learn anything if you don’t feel comfortable so go on, grab some cushions and scented candles; just make sure you don’t fall asleep…

Music

There are two options for this: listen to soft studying music (which distracts me) or you can do what I did and go on Ambient-Mixer and listen to some sounds like ‘Gryffindor common room’ (which I absolutely adore) and ‘rainy day’ and stuff just so it’s not too quiet 🙂

and finally…

DON’T STRESS

My science teacher is all about the meditation and peace so she always said “don’t get too stressed over work. If you can’t bear it, take a break, go to the park and take your dog for a walk. Stress just leads to more stress which is just unbearable.”

What studying tips helped you lately?

Heartless Book Review

Screen Shot 2018-03-29 at 4.28.22 PM.png

Guess what?!

I decided to start a mini book club kind of thing on my blog where I can review books because I absolutely LOVE to read. After reading those reviews you can also comment if you’ve read them before, or you could just go read it if you want to.

Anyways, let’s go!

               ♠♣♥♦            ♠♣♥♦            ♠♣♥♦            ♠♣♥♦

WARNING: There may be a few spoilers (I’ll try not to include any, but just I can’t guarantee).

Sooooo this book is called ‘Heartless’ by Marissa Meyer and this is the blurb:

Long before Alice fell down the rabbit hole…

And before the roses were painted red…

The Queen of Hearts was just a girl, in love for the first time.

From Marissa Meyer, The New York Times bestselling author of The Lunar Chronicles, comes a vision of Wonderland like none you’ve seen before, telling the untold story of the girl who would become the notorious Queen of Hearts.

The book is basically about a little girl named Catherine who was the daughter of the Marchion and Marchioness of Hearts. Her dream is to own the best bakery in all of Hearts along with her maid, Mary Ann.

But her parents are totally against the idea of a bakery and instead want her to marry a man and allow him to do the work because “it’s not respectable”. Soon she realizes that the King is going to ask for her hand in marriage and she doesn’t want to say yes, however, her parents do.

Cath instead falls in love with a boy with a secret that no one in the kingdom knows, and he and Cath try to run away from Hearts but something terrible happens, causing her to become the cruel and heartless person known as the Queen of Hearts.

Do tell me if you decide to buy or read this book because it is truly interesting, the only flaw is that there is a lot of extra writing in some parts of the story. Other than that, I think this book is great and I definitely recommend it.

My Rating: 8.5/10

Have you ever heard of or read this book before? If so, what do you think of it?

A Guide to Dubai

Dubai Guide

Evening everyone!

Well, not so much evening for me but it is the evening for a lot of people around the world so…

ANYwhoo, I am extrEMEly sorry for not posting in over a week. I mean, who does that? But now it’s spring break ( hooray! ) so I will be able to post normally again. Also, I was a little bit jetlagged and sick after coming back from Switzerland so I’m not quite sure you’d actually want to read the posts at that time…

So, here’s a little post of stuff you should do in Dubai if you ever come. BTW, if you do then you should definitely tell me because I can give you more advice 🙂

Visit the Burj Khalifa

The Burj Khalifa is obviously very iconic because it is ginormous, so you should visit it because the view from the top is great. But I don’t really advise this for people who are scared of heights because man is it tall!

Visit a Shopping Mall

I don’t know if you know but Dubai is full to the brim with great big shopping malls where you drop while you’re still halfway through your shopping list! (shop till you drop) In my opinion, the best malls to go to are: Mall Of the Emirates (MOE) or The Dubai Mall. Dubai mall is bigger but MOE has a few things that Dubai mall doesn’t so it’s just to get even.

Go to the Beach

UAE is a very sunny place so you should probably take advantage of the extra degrees by just dropping by at the beach because a) who doesn’t love the beach, and b) there is some delicious food and nice shops there too. So why not?!

Now here are a few things with shorter captions-

Visit a theme park: The weather’s perfect, you’ve got the chance, honestly why not?         Go to Ski Dubai: Come on, indoor skiing, that’s pretty self-explanatory.                                Dubai Aquarium: You can almost go inside the aquarium, how cool is that?!

The most important thing is probably to go on a bus tour because you’ll get more of your sight-seeing desire fulfilled too!

What’s a country you really want to visit?

February Monthly Round-Up

Hai everyone!

Today I’m going to be rounding up February in things I did and liked and random stuff like that. Please comment if you liked this and whether I should do it again/what I should add. Here We Go!

Something I’ve Been Enjoying

Lately, I’ve been really enjoying writing in my journal because it’s very calming. It’s also a great way to let some thoughts escape. If you don’t already write in a journal then I suggest you try it out for at least a few days, write in great detail though, or else you won’t get anything out of it.

Best Songs

These are the songs I listened to the most. They aren’t all new but I’ve been enjoying them anyway! I’ve listed them in order of how much I like them:

  • Gorgeous           by Taylor Swift
  • Complicated     by Avril Lavigne
  • Hit The Lights  by Selena Gomez

Blog Going-Ons

Since February started I received 7 more followers which is awesome and I now have 20 followers, including an email follower 🙂 In February I also reached 200 likes on my blog. Thank you guys so much for making February a great month for my blog stats!

Redfest Dxb 2018 ❣️

Hey everyone!!!

Yesterday I went to Redfest Dxb day 2 and it was so much fun! I was in the Redpit (the closest to the stage) with three of my friends and it was literally the best because I got to take a picture with Bebe Rexha! Also, VirginRadioDxb posted a picture of me taking a selfie with her so I guess I’m pretty famous now.

The artists that came (that I watched) were:

  • Craig David
  • Bebe Rexha
  • Marshmello
  • Ke$ha

Here are a few thoughts and pictures:

1. Craig David

Craig David

Obviously, this picture is very bad quality because … ya idk why. Aside from that, his performance was very good and he performed some of his own songs and a few covers; the covers didn’t sound like the normal songs though, they were unique. My favourite was when he performed <<I Know You>> because he sounded exactly like he does on the radio, but I’m sure he’s not lip-syncing.

2. Bebe Rexha

Bebe rexha 1bebe rexha 2bebe rexha selfie

Firstly, I really liked her huge, puffy jacket thing because it looks adorable and really comfy, she must have been sweating buckets though! Her performance was amazing and I luckily caught a few good shots which you can see above ↑↑↑ The only thing was that she didn’t sing The Way I Are (Dance With Somebody) and I Got You.

3. Marshmello

IMG_E1932.JPG

I couldn’t get any good pictures of Marshmello because he was all the way at the back of the stage so I borrowed one from their official Instagram page. His part was for 1 1/2 hours which was longer than the others and it was the most fun because he played my favourite song ( <<Wolves>> ). Also, my friends and I were dancing to his beat drops the whole time which was tiring but super fun.

4. Ke$ha

Screen Shot 2018-02-10 at 4.09.53 PM.png

I must say that I didn’t enjoy Ke$ha’s part of the show too much as she didn’t sing any of the songs I knew/liked and she swore a LOT. That’s all I’ve got to say because I left halfway through her shift, sorry!

Which is the best concert you’ve ever been to?

Embracing Hygge

Screen Shot 2018-01-29 at 7.00.06 PM.png

Hygge? What the heck is that?! English, please!

Yes, I know, that is probably what most of you are thinking while reading this. Or, some of you may already know what ‘hygge’ is, if you do, you might want to skip the explanation and go straight to the post↓

For those of you who don’t know what hygge is, let me tell you:

Hygge ( pronounced hue-gah ) is a Danish word. It doesn’t translate into one word but means “cozy” or “special”, basically to enjoy life’s pleasures. You may not have heard it but you’ve definitely experienced it, everyone has. Cool right! This is one interesting thing that the Danish people have invented (aside from their pastries of course♥️).

I may be a bit late for this because winter is actually the season of coziness but it’s still winter so… here are some ways to channel them hygge vibes…

Comfy Clothes

I’m sure we all have this one pair of clothes that we’d never wear outside even though they’re suuuuuper comfortable; time to get those clothes out now!

Dim Lighting

No-one really wants that much light in this season, it’s more of a calm light. For this, I always use fairy lights because they are just the coziest feeling thing EVER! Just put up a few fairy lights on the sofa or around your bed and you’re all set.

Light ‘Dem Candles

Scented candles are basically the best because you get warm-toned light and the awesome smells.

Hot Chocolate

This is a personal preference thing but I feel like hot chocolate is the most wintery food or drink out there. Also, it’s really warm and delicious!

Read a Book

As you have learnt in school, reading is great for your mind – not including reading twitter, Instagram, Facebook or any other kind of social media – and it is really great when you find the perfect book. So I think you should probably go scavenge for your perfect book now.

Put That Phone DOWN

One thing that all of us do is check our phones for any life updates; your life is here, enjoy the present and not just the phone screen.

Have a Warm Bath

Ooooohhh LUSH! Yes, this is defo the best time to pull out my huge basket of Lush bath bombs (heaven). I recently used the Lava Lamp bath bomb and it smells amazing. Expect quite a few reviews (;

Wrap Up Like a Burrito

Now the only thing that could possibly make this better is to snuggle up in a-million-and-one blankets while doing all of the above; good luck with that!

How else do you like to wind down?

Weekly Photo Challenge: Growth

Aaaas you may know from a previous post, I have decided to try out the ‘Weekly Photo Challenge’. Seems pretty interesting so, yeah!

This week’s topic: GROWTH

IMG_1134.jpg

This photo links to growth for me because there are ideas growing, sprouting and becoming bigger and better. Also, the pictures in the background add a touch of people and nature growing because it’s as the time passes by. It may be a weird interpretation of the topic, but hey, that’s me !

Have you started anything new this year?

New Year’s Resolutions

Hello guys!

I’m back at the last minute of 2017, exciting isn’t it! I’m not actually posting it at 11:59 pm, it’s called the art of scheduling, SO useful OHEMGEE. Sorry, got a little out of control there, anyway, won’t waste a minute of your new and precious time.

Firstly, I know the same cycle repeats every year for everyone:

  1. Write a-bajillion resolutions you think you’ll stick to.
  2. Decide that you are going to put 10 reminders and write down your progress.
  3. After one week you forgot your resolutions.
  4. At the end of the year, you realize you didn’t stick to any of them.

That’s why I’m only doing 3

Secondly, I just want to say that 2017 went by super fast. Yes, everyone is saying that which means it’s true! It was the year I:

  • Moved into secondary school
  • Started this blog
  • Started guitar

I won’t say that 2017 was the best because I know it wasn’t, let’s hope 2018 is way better!

Resolutions:

To post at least once a week on my blog.

I would normally forget or not actually post because I’m too lazy (😋), but sometimes I actually try making an effort to stick to my NYR’s so, some great blog posts await!

To do my homework on the same day that I get it or the day after.

Everyone everywhere thinks they can do this because it sounds easy. It’s not, IT’S SO DANG HARD! But if I finish my homework quicker I can get more time to browse Pinterest for some blog posts.

To go on walks with Buddy (my dog) alone twice a week.

do go on walks with my dog, but the cool thing is that this is a two-in-one resolution. Taking my dog for a walk and taking myself for a walk. Smart eh?

There you have it! Some resolutions that I may or may not stick to. It really is hard work, you must know that by now, we all have experience.   Have a happy and fabulous new year everyone!

What are your resolutions for the new year?

My Week in Numbers 💯

Blogmas 11

I’ve seen sooo many of these kinds of posts all over … blogs and I decided to give it a try myself. I am well aware that this post and the next post are not really related to Christmas but I have a great recipe coming up!

// 42… \\ Laps swam in my swimming class.

// 1 …\\ Candy cane given to me by a girl in my class.

// 3…\\  Presents received from my secret santa.

// 2…\\  Assessments completed in 2 hours.

// 7…\\ Christmas songs were heard by my ears.

// 2…\\  Testers tasted at Pinkberry.

// 26…\\ Dhs spent with Milla.

I know, it’s a disaster, but I will improve, I shall.

Have you ever tried a week in numbers post? If so, link it below because I want to read it!
