2022: Long Story Short, I Survived

Happy new yearrrrr!!!

Welcome to my first post of 2023!

I can’t believe the year is finally over and for once I’m saying this in a good way. There were so many good moments that I’m extremely grateful for but also 2022 was super tiring and there were things that really..sucked. So in summary this year was the literal definition of a roller coaster and thankfully I survived.

As a rite of passage, this is my end-of-year reflection post that will be much better than my previous one. I’m splitting the year up into four parts because every 3 months felt like a different chapter and also I’m too lazy to document each month individually. Plus I mean who’d want to read such a detailed review.

January to March

  • a TERRIBLE THREE MONTHS. I can’t even explain it but the vibes were so off in the first three months and my mental health was lowkey deteriorating. I genuinely cannot believe I am the same girl who experienced those three months because that was a whole trip. Anyways, personally I wouldn’t consider it the best way to start the year but maybe that’s just me (the events that took place were pretty good but as I said the vibes weren’t).
  • We had our mock exams in Jan and I got a very painful 2 in one of my math criterions (out of 8, very humbling) but a 6 in my econ test (out of 7. the moment I realised I may actually be capable of slaying in econ).
  • Made a music video for the 10 minute version of All Too Well with Simmy and Netra and I just wanna say that is a cinematic masterpiece and I’d post it here if I could. We also did around the kitchen in the refrigerator light in case you were wondering.
  • Did 90% of my final music project in the last two weeks before the deadline (wrote and recorded the entire song an hour before) and yes I brought that upon myself but as you can see I still complain about it to this day.
  • International day was cute and we wore our cute Indian clothes to school. Me and Simmy also got married that day (???). Loved it.
  • Played Holi with my friends and it was way too much fun.

April to June

  • Actually the best three months of the year and I can’t name one single unenjoyable thing that happened because it was just great.
  • We had our last round of mocks and then the last normal month of year 11 and then our final exams which I was weirdly confident for and did not have mental breakdowns over (only one and it was for french for some reason).
  • My stomach had a bad reaction to some quesadillas I ate with my friends literally 2 days before myp graduation so that was not at all fun but I made it to grad and looked good so who cares.
  • PROM with my best friends and getting ready was even more fun than the event itself, as usual.
  • My cousin came back from uni for the summer (if she’s reading this then ew her return was like the last thing I wanted) and it made life more entertaining.
  • We got a kitten for like 2 weeks and now she belongs to my aunt but she’s a cutie and I was her first favourite person (or my mom idk).

July to September

  • This was such a random in-between chapter where life just flowed and yes it was overall a pretty chill three months.
  • Went to a Louis Tomlinson concerttt!! Still one of the best things to come out of this year ugh it was perfect.
  • Went on a staycation with my cousins and stuff and it was WAY too hot but the beach was nice.
  • We got our MYP scores/ exam results and I got a 51/56 which I was really proud of (very much hoped I’d do better but this works for now) and my friend got 56/56 which is insane (the only person in the UAE to get that this year) so YAY VARSHITAA
  • Then went to India for like 10 days and had fun at a random person’s wedding and got food poisoning.

October to December

  • I have a lot of good memories from these three months and they would have been the best months of the year if it wasn’t for one thing that was just the lowest part of my year (to put it in nice and simple words).
  • Turned 17 and celebrated that with my friends and family. It was really nice and I was super happy 😋
  • Went on the school trip to Ras Al Khaimah (already talked about that enough in the last post) and got really tanned.
  • Two week trip to India with most of my cousins and family and it was extremely chaotic but it was nice to see new places and spend time with my family. We went to Odisha, Assam, and Bengal and fun fact I almost got attacked by a goat (technically no but like kinda)
  • A picture me and my friends took at a mini Diwali party is becoming kinda Pinterest famous (if you count 200 saves and 18k impressions as kinda Pinterest famous) and we keep buying chocolate for ourselves whenever the post reaches a milestone. It’s such an honour honestly we are truly humbled.

So there we go, there’s my 2022 in 22 bullet points (the 22 bullet points were actually not intended but I just counted them up and it’s very cool that there are exactly 22; it’s a sign). I hope it was somewhat entertaining to read because it was quite fun for me to write.

How was 2022 for you? What were some of the highlights and some things you want to leave behind? What are you looking forward to this year?? Talk to me in the comments! As usual, I love to chat 😚

Song rec. of the post: Saturdays by Louis Tomlinson. Something about this song feels so personal and vulnerable and like a soft little hug. I listened to it for the first time with Simmy and when I heard it the main lyric that stood out to me was “I’ve been wondering about what you’re up to. Not for the first time, not for the last time” and I don’t know why. It reminds me a lot of Little Freak by Harry Styles in terms of the idea/message so I love the songs even more as a pairing. GO LISTEN, it’s a beautiful song.

India Trip Photo Diary 🌻

Helloooo

I was going to name this post ‘august slipped away into a moment in time’ until I realised this is basically a recap of my trip, not the entirety of the month. The prize for the most unique August recap title would not go to me 😋 or even many other August recap posts I’ve seen, to be honest. But it’s okay, we’re just enjoying folklore and we do get points for that. (speaking of Taylor, who else can’t wait for Midnightttsss!!!!). Then there’s also Louis’ new album coming, ugh fall is gonna be so good.

Anyways so summer is somehow over already and I’m now in in YEAR 12 (grade 11, junior year, whatever you call it) and I’m really not excited for all the work we have this year, but I am excited to hopefully hang out with my friends much much more than I did last year.

August was a pretty fun month and this was the best summer I’ve had since 2019 (because I got to actually leave the house and do things this time 😭). I hung out with my cousins a lot, bought a bunch of clothes, attempted to journal more and went to India!! Feels like it’s been forever and I really loved the trip, even though I got food poisoning like halfway through 😋 In India we went for a wedding which I was extremely excited for because, I mean, everyone knows that Indian weddings are just iconic.

I’m gonna stop talking now because, if I’m being completely honest, I have no idea what else to say. The pictures are much more fun to look at so I hope you like them 😌

Not sure if you guys have noticed yet but I very much love random little photo dumps; I have nowhere else for my photos to go soo yep.

I hope you enjoyed this post!! I really do love the photos and I miss summer already.

What did you do this summer? How is school/college going? What is the next thing you’re currently looking forward to?? Let me know in the comments, I love reading them!! 😚

Song recommendation of the post: Villain by Maisie Peters. Guys. If you haven’t heard any of Maisie’s songs before, I really need you to go listen now. I only started listening to her at the beginning of summer but one by one I became obsessed with every song off her album (‘You Signed Up For This’) because her melodies and concepts are so perfect and her lyrics are just so well-written and super witty. Ugh I could go on about this for days and I genuinely mean it. So go listen. and then tell me what you think. Now.

Love,

Hreemy xx

Prom & Graduation 🎓

Helllloooo

Happy June and happy pride month!! 🌈

May was quite a chaotic month honestly we went straight from our final MYP exams (I know I’ve talked about them enough, I’ll stop after this post) to graduation and prom. I’m not complaining though, I somehow thoroughly enjoyed May; it’s probably my favourite month of 2022 so far. Because like we had so many mock exams that by the time we got to finals I was much less nervous and stressed than I was during any mock that we did before. I was just super excited to get them over with and I finally did 😩

Anyways. On the 25th of May we had our MYP graduation (the IB middle years program) so that was fun. I was quite excited to dress up a bit and also to finally see people in my year without their masks 😭 Then like 3 days later was Prom!!! My dress gave me and my friends very much Evelyn Hugo vibes so you’ll see that in the pictures. Simmy, Netra and I all got ready together, took pictures, and ate at Simmy’s house and then danced for a few hours in heels and slightly uncomfortable dresses.

Finally here are the pictures because let’s be honest, they’re the most important part (first three pics are grad and the rest are prom).

(if you’re reading this post on email the picture formatting will be a bit off!! it’s better on the website lol)

I hope you liked the pictures!!! I definitely did 😌

Talk to me in the comments about your month!! How was May?? What were the highlights and the worst parts (lowlights? idk)?! What are you looking forward to this month? 😚

Song recommendation of the post: Colours of You by Baby Queen.
I heard this song because of Heartstopper (like most people I’m pretty sure) and loved it almost immediately. I’m very much a lyrics girl and the lyrics of this song are just so pretty, I’m in love. Listen to the song and let me know what you think!!

So much love,

Hreemy xx

Autumn-Winter Photo Dump 📷

hello beautiful peopleeee!!

how are you? what’s up?

wow another post in less than a month? I’m like a whole new person.

I’m really not 😔 I just love photo dumps so I took the opportunity of spring starting to do a little autumn to winter photo dump and life update.

At the moment I’m on my second week of spring break and studying once again for my second set of mocks (why do we need two 😭) and my economics and business finals. It hasn’t registered in my brain yet, it’s only gonna register as I’m halfway through my third exam. oh welllll wish me luck!

okay now let me do some bullet point life events that will sometimes (like 99% of the time) correspond with the pictures in my dump. enjoyyy 😚

  • Met my best friend Noelle when she visited from Switzerland in Jan
  • Hung out with friends a bunch of times which was very fun and also with my cousins when they came back from uni for winter break!
  • Enjoyed the masterpiece that is Red (Taylor’s Version) and spent a week or two writing the masterpiece that is Red (Hreem’s Version)
  • Developed an addiction to hot chocolate (especially Starbucks’ hot chocolate for some reason, I think they put something in that)
  • Went to Expo 2020 for three days on a school trip and it was a little too sunny but still so much fun I got like 26 stamps ☺️
  • This didn’t happen to me but my friend Misha nearly burnt down her house (exaggeration but not really) while trying to make chocolate covered strawberries for our friend who had covid and me who nearly got covid and was therefore isolating. Chaotic. I just added that to give some context for one of the last few pictures.
  • Met Celia (the girl in the third picture) and became besties and sang+wrote songs together
  • Celebrated Valentines day with my friends with lots of chocolate and heart-shaped balloons
  • My mom got me and my brother very cute Valentines donuts 😭❤️
  • Had a little holi party with some of my friends which was the most fun thing EVER (took me forever to get the pink colour out of my scalp and nails but honestly worth it)
  • Adopted a stuffed penguin with Simmy (he’s our baby and his name is Louis)
  • Got our MYP graduation photos taken (a very momentous occasion dude years 7-11 were a rollercoaster and I’m not even done with year 11 yet)
  • Went on a very cute picnic with Simmy, Misha and Netra

I didn’t realise how much happened in the last few months until I listed everything and then cut a lot of it out because… it got a bit much.

But I hope you enjoyed this post because I absolutely loved writing it and collecting the pictures. Photo dumps will forever be my favourite posts to read and make.

What interesting stuff has happened in your life lately? What are you looking forward to? What did you think of Harry’s new song???

Chat with me in the comments about literally anything I love talking to youuuuuu!!

Song recommendation of the post: AS IT WAS BY HARRY STYLESSS. Can’t believe he’s back. Took forever but I’ll forgive him I guess 🙄 I love As It Was so so so much honestly the melody the lyrics the everything. I’m so excited for this new era and his album!!!!! Listen to the song if you haven’t heard it already (if you haven’t heard it yet, where have you been) and tell me if you love it, or even if you don’t.

Lots of love,

Hreemy xx

Another Photo Dump

hello everybody!!

it’s the lovely month of November now and has been for a while but oops

the past few months have felt chaotic to me because we’re going out a lot more (going to school and stuff) but it’s been oddly fun and time FLEW.

omg and RED (TAYLOR’S VERSION) RELEASES TOMORROW!! ALL TOO WELL TEN MINUTE VERSION!! I cannot wait 😫 If you’ve been following me for a while you should already know what’s coming next… (Red album review of course). Between Us by Little Mix also releases tomorrow so it’s definitely gonna be a good day.

In honour of finally having a reason to take pictures again but not having anywhere to put them, I decided to do another photo dump ☺️ I love making photo dumps and also seeing photo dumps on other people’s blogs because it’s a nice way to see your blogger friends in real life lol. Like we all just know each other through writing; isn’t that so cool but also strange but also awesome??

Anyways yes here’s … chic life through my lens?

He apparently had no idea who One Direction is and just randomly found this bag in his house. I played him some songs and he now loves Drag Me Down ☺️ Character development.
my room looking vibey
hi jaanvi
my birthdayyyy ❤ hi misha, maia, yana, simran, and netra

my last photo dump feels like forever ago but it was only the end of April wow. Time flies.

update me on how your life is going right now! how’s school? how are your friends? how are your hobbies? anything you’re currently looking forward to?? let me know!!!

Song recommendation of the post: The Kids Are All Dying by Finneas. The songwriting of this song is just so good like all of Finneas’ songs but I’ve honestly never heard another song like this one. It’s so ironic and critical or criticism and accepting of criticism and just funny at some parts. His entire new album is amazing but this song in particular I’m just obsessed with at the moment.

Love, Hreem xx

London Photo Diary

Hey there!

I am back from London and Prague,

So I am sitting here, trying to deal with this tragic breakup while I reminisce over the BEAUTiful sights.

Which basically means that I’m looking back at all the pictures and the *shopping* (woop woop). If I put all the pictures from London and Prague in this post then I’m afraid you won’t make it ’til the end because you would’ve dozed off. Just to make sure you don’t fall asleep now, I’ll get started; just remember it’s supposed to be a photo diary so there won’t be any writing!

Monday 6th August

Tuesday 7th August

Wednesday 8th August

Thursday 9th August

Saturday 11th August

aaaand thank you everybody!

Are you a fan of pictures? Or not so much…

Hreem XO
