Hey everybodyyy

I hope you’re enjoying your summer (if you can lol). I can’t believe it’s already August!!
This year took forever but it also went by super fast and it’s really strange but I mean, has anything been normal this year?

Nope.

Sooo this post is about Taylor Swift’s new album that she announced on July 23rd (rip 1D’s anniversary) and released on July 24th, THAT FAST. I was so confused when I saw the post about it because she had just released her last album (Lover) less than a year ago so nobody saw this coming.

The album was written in the first 3 months of quarantine so you would expect the quality of work to be a little less but it is her best album to date. It’s not her best album in the conventional way of being full of radio engineered pop hits with catchy melodies and stuff, it’s more about the lyrics and the fact that the album is so well-written and a lyrical masterpiece. If you haven’t listened to the album you should do that right now (after reading my post heheh) because I love ittt.

My ranking of songs when I first heard them is so different to the ranking now, I can’t believe I put some of those songs that low at the beginning lol. Also it’s impossible to rank them because I love almost all of them equally but here is my attempt right now:

This is such a soft and storylike album that you should listen to on a rainy night, with pretty candles, wrapped in a cardigan (heh) and while drinking tea?? maybe?? Something super cool she did is she wrote three songs about a teenage love triangle and each song is from the perspective of a different person, if you don’t listen to anything else at least listen to those three (cardigan, betty & august). It’s so interesting once you see the lyrical parrallels in those songs.

Anyways I hope you enjoyed reading this post even though it isn’t as interesting because I really love music and it’s fun to tell other people about music ☺️

Hope you’re all safe and happy and physically distancing as much as you can!!

I can’t believe we’re already halfway through July, this happened waayyyyy too fast and I just don’t approve of it, I really don’t.

Anywayss, this post is kinda like a conpetition between two of my friends, Maia and Simran (you might know them from my wrap-up post 🙂 to see who knows me better. I chose them two because I feel like they know me basically the same amount so neither of them really have much of an advantage.

We did all of this on a video call #justquarantinetings and it was actually a lot of fun so I hope you enjoy reading this too!

 What are 3 items I always carry with me?

Maia: phone, hair tie, lip balm
Simmy: lip balm, phone, earphones, mask (lol an extra point for mask cause I didn’t think of it)
My answer: phone, lip balm, hair tie, earphones

What toppings do I have on my pizza?

(they really struggled with this for some reason which I found hilarious)
Maia: olives, mushrooms, peppers, onions
Simmy: olives, capsicums, mushrooms, onions
My answer: olives, mushrooms, capsicums, onions and TOMATOES. They literally couldn’t get tomatoes even after I gave them hints and after Maia went through everything in her fridge she still didn’t get tomatoes. Maybe I’m just the weird one for having tomatoes on pizza.

What’s my dream job?

Maia: a popstar
Simmy: a singer
My answer: a singer. They know me so well *wipes tear*

If the whole world was listening to me at one go what would I say?

Maia: “Follow my blog and insta, get me Taylor Swift’s number, #swiftiesforlife and I love you Taylor.”
Simmy: “Taylor Swift You Belong With Me.”
I choose: Maia. They really exaggerated how much I like Taylor, I seem like I would probably stalk her but trust me I’m normal(-ish).

What are my favourite scents and/or a perfume that I like?

Maia: warm vanilla sugar, peppermint swirl, frosted coconut snowball, lavender, rose.
Simmy: warm & cozy, a thousand years, lavender, orchid, mint.
My answer: vanilla, lemon, lavender, all the perfumes were right except for a thousand years, I’ve literally never worn that.

What are my top 3 ice cream flavours?

Maia: cookies & cream, strawberry, brownies.
Simmy: love potion, rainbow sherbet, mango.
My answer: love potion, mint chocolate chip and rainbow sherbet. I guess Simmy would know this more because I’ve never really gone to have ice cream with Maia.

What is my biggest fear?

Maia: being alone
Simmy: being alone
My Answer: being alone. So yeah they clearly already know that and I love how they both answered it in the exact same way lol that really made me laugh for some reason.

If I could only listen to 3 Taylor Swift albums for the rest of my life what would they be?

(I was honestly hoping for one of them to say “hahah that’s a trick question you can’t just choose three” but unfortunately that didn’t happen. *wipes another tear. out of sadness this time* So I had to overcome my indecisiveness and pick 3 because I know (correction, HOPE) a situation will never arise where I’m only left with 3 of her albums. Ok let’s move on)
Maia: Lover, 1989, Speak Now
Simmy: Lover, reputation, Fearless
My Answer: IT WAS SO HARD FOR ME TO PICKKKKK. but in the end I went with Lover, reputation and Fearless because they have the most different sounds. *I’m so sorry Speak Now, 1989, Red and Debut, I really feel bad*.

If I’m on Netflix right now, what show am I watching?

Maia: Fuller House, Friends and Gilmore Girls.
Simmy: Friends, Jane the Virgin and Fuller House.
My Answer: Friends, Jane the Virgin and Brooklyn Nine Nineeeee. Can’t believe they forgot that. Also idk why Maia said Gilmore Girls, I literally stopped watching that like 2 years ago lol.

What is my favourite inside joke of ours? (haha none of you will understand this sorry ’bout that)

Maia: Rackets, Simmy is irrelevant, ook.
Simmy: all of them, they’re all too funny (couldn’t she have said something along those lines for the albums???) ok fine rackets.
My Answer: It was hard to pick but I went with rackets, ook and knocked up (don’t even ask).

So the winner of this was …. drumroll please …. Simmmyyyy with 20 points. Maia had 19 points which wasn’t that far behind so I’m quite proud of both of them.

First Half of the Year Wrap-Up

hey guys!

I hope you’re all happy and smiling and just feeling (at least) okay.
I know some really bad things have been and still are happening so hopefully everyone is safe.

I always love doing those monthly wrap up posts but there wasn’t enough stuff going on my life each month to actually write a post about. So I decided to do one for these past six months hahah. Honestly it was even hard for me to find the highlights of half the year so please appreciate it no matter how uneventful it may be.

The first exciting thing to happen this year was Taylor’s documentary ‘Miss Americana’ which I have already talked about in another post so I won’t be repeating myself, although I would love to. I can almost hear your sighs of relief and I must say I’m quite offended. But we got so much content this year which I am extremely happy about. For example the One World Together concert, City of Lover Concert and stuff. Let’s move on.

Before I talk about this can we first have a little flashback to the times where I edited every. single. photo with this very aRtSy paint brush thing. I actually kinda want to bring it back lol. Anyways, here is me and my friends going to the mall for no reason (before corona, obviously). Simran tried a frappuccino I recommended, Maia is dangerously obsessed with animal crackers and I just exist. You have no clue who they are but I’m sure you can figure out from context.

This picture is here just to show you that my very strange friend eats cheetos with chopsticks. I don’t even understand humans anymore, like???? Plus I still don’t know how to hold chopsticks properly so there’s a hint of jealousy there but this isn’t normal behaviour.

We had international day in school! It was literally so much fun and me and my friends ate so much. Plus we got to dress up so I’ll take any excuse for that. One or two days later our school was like wow having such a big gathering probably wasn’t a good idea. Also here is like the first pic I posted where you can see my teeth post-braces yayyy.

I just looked at the date of when this was taken and realised that at the time I had no idea that in four days I would have my last day of year 9 and I would proceed to not step foot out of my house for like 3 months. To be so innocent. Also they spelt my name wrong, obviously, but this is the closest they’ve ever got to spelling it right. I have a whole album on my phone of the different ways Starbucks has spelt my name. One example is Rem (???)

This is the okay-est photo that I had taken of the rain. It rained very much this year and I am so (pleasantly) surprised. I am in love with rain so the 4 or 5 times it rained this year were the highlights. *people living in England are like 😳* It even rained in May which means something strange is going on this year, as if we couldn’t tell already. I forgot to mention that there was also hail!!! Closest we’ve ever gotten to snow in Dubai.

I made eggless tiramisu!! I am now regretting not taking a better picture and realising just how terrible the quality of this picture is. Aside from that, the tiramisu was delicious *chef’s kiss*, this is the only recipe I can make by heart. If you want me to share the recipe please let me know because I’d love to ♥️

The last part of my post is one of my biggest achievements: In the last 6 months I have listened to 107 hours of music. Ikr, what do I even do with my life. A lot of things actually, I just do them while listening to music. These are the top 8 artists I listen to apparently and I’m super confused at most of the numbers here. I mean, I don’t remember listening to Halsey or Harry Styles this much. It’s ok though, it was still awesome.

What To Do While We’re Quarantined

hey guys!

I hope everyone is happy and healthy right now 🙂

I haven’t met anyone outside my family for a while (I’m being dramatic, just like 10 days) but honestly I’m not complaining. I’m an introvert so I’m in my room its a typical Tuesday night I’m listening to the kinda music she doesn’t like… sorry I got carried away. Do I talk about Taylor Swift too much? yup. Do I care? not at all. *go stream You Belong With Me*

the social distancing at the beginning of this video is a great example of what you should do. What happens in the last 10 seconds of the video is exactly what you should not do.

Let me just get to the point before I think of 5 more song lyrics and a story from year 7 hehe.

So, since we are all at home and pretty bored I’m assuming, here is a bunch of fun or new stuff for you to try if you have no clue what to do. Check them out incase you find one of them interesting 🙂

Learn an Instrument

Before this whole thing happened I started learning to play the keyboard so now in this break I got to practice a lot more and learn some new songs which was really fun. If you think it’s hopeless and you are terrible at music, atleast give the ukulele a go.

Organise Your Room

You probably really don’t want to do this but just do it (not sponsored haha). Either clean out your room so you can see what you need and what you don’t, then organise everything or maybe even redecorate it a little bit? I don’t know, it’s your choice.

Skincare

Do a face mask, or a hair mask, or start some new skincare routine that you’ve attempted to start many times but only managed to stick to it for about three days. Since you have the time, why not?

Bake or Cook

Bake a cake or bread or some cookies or something, it’ll be really fun! If you usually use a cake mix or readymade cookie dough or something like that, try doing it from scratch this time. Plus, at the end you’ll have something to eat too so honestly it’s a win-win.

Do Some Art

Art is also pretty cool right? Do it! Painting, sketching, oil pastels… ran out of art stuff but do something really fun and artsy.

Read

Read a booook. Books are really interesting and I do not understand why so many people hate reading. Some people I know can’t remember the last book they read for fun. It hurts my heart.

Start a Blog or Youtube Channel

If you are reading this post you most likely already have a blog of your own and in that case, try posting more. But if you don’t have a blog I really think you should start one just about anything you like and want to talk about or something that you want to spread awareness about. Alternatively, if you don’t like writing or typing you might want to start a Youtube channel. If you decide to create either of these please leave your links in the comments and I’d love to visit them!

Obviously there is a bunch of other stuff that you can do that I haven’t listed and if you do think of something then please let me know because it might be helpful for me or someone else ❤

hello everyone!

What’ve you been up to?

Anyone who knows me knows that I realllllllly love Taylor Swift and her music and I have loved her since I was about 7 years old. If anyone I know is reading this…hi. It’s actually come to the point where people get super annoyed because I force them to listen to her songs and watch her documentary. Which is exactly what I’m writing this post about!

Last Friday (the 31st) Netflix released a documentary about Taylor Swift called ‘Miss Americana’ and it’s basically an inside look on her life and what really happens/happened to her. It’s also about her starting to take a more political stand and not just using her (amazing) voice to sing (amazing songs).

*My opinion is probably extremely biased but if you don’t believe me you should just watch the documentary and tell me what you think 🙂 *

She spoke a lot about her image, both the way she physically looks and the way other people tend to see her. It gives a very personal look into some great things that happened and also a lot of the disappointments and challenges that she had to face throughout her career. Taylor gets really vulnerable about what’s actually happening in her personal life and also what is going on in her family and it’s amazing because you wouldn’t expect there to be so many things for her to be worried about but of course there are. It’s interesting how everyone called her a serial dater but at one point she asks, “Shouldn’t I have someone I could call right now?” There was also information about both of the Kanye West incidents and what she felt about them and how the internet caused her to disappear for a year or two.

The next part sees her finding someone she really loves who has a more grounded life that is so different to hers. There’s lots of insight into the songwriting and recording process of a couple songs on Lover and some of reputation like Getaway Car, I Did Something Bad, Delicate, ME!, The Man, and her newest single only the young.

The final (kinda) part of the documentary is more about Taylor breaking her political silence and speaking out about what she really believes in and it’s all amazing.

The movie is really so inspiring and eye-opening and I hope you do go watch it!
